http://americanart.si.edu/interact/index.cfm

CONTENT
Interact, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, uses “rich media” such as slide shows and podcast so that visitors to the site can explore the collections in a “new and engaging way.”
SITE DESIGN
The site has a nice, uncluttered layout, with links to the collections and exhibitions represented graphically at the top of the page and links to other sections listed below. Mousing over the individual thumbnails gives users a peek at what’s inside. Users can use the list of links to access other features or just scroll down the page to browse all the resources.

REVIEW
Interact provides media-rich resources that can easily be used by educators in the classroom, allowing students to learn by viewing media and taking part in various online activities. Visitors to the site will be able to view a slideshow featuring artworks from the current special exhibition Modernism in American Silver: 20th-Century Design!; listen to a SAAM’s podcast on artist Sean Scully; view a Webcast lecture by David Driskell, one of the world's leading authorities on the subject of African American Art; choose from a long list of interactive exhibitions and galleries; or view student podcasts made by high school and middle school students as part of a creative writing assignment. The podcasts were researched and written by the students and reflect their interpretations of the subject.
