SITE DESIGN:
These pages are part of the larger National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) site and it contains links to a variety of resources. The links related to Fire Prevention Week can be found in the blue sidebar at the left side of the main page. Clicking on a link expands the menu to show the contents of each section. Shockwave is needed for the games section.

REVIEW:
Most elementary teachers include Fire Prevention Week as part of the curriculum. This site provides background information about FPW, letters in English and Spanish to send home with students, key points for kids about smoke alarms and practicing fire escape plans, lesson plans for grades k-4 and directions for playing Sparky's "World Series of Fire Safety" complete with the downloadable playing cards. Kids and families will find important safety information on developing and practicing fire escape plans, fun games in Sparky's Arcade, and other activities. For fire service workers and first responders there is a free downloadable planning kit that includes facts, tips, how-tos and other materials for carrying out a successful Fire Prevention Week campaign.
