What is teaching like today? Who should do it? And who shouldn't? This Education World series features
essays on teaching by teachers as they answer the question, "If you had it to do all over again, would you still
become a teacher?"
Did I love teaching so much that I would do it again?
You bet! I am doing it again.
I retired from one district in 1999, having taught for 32 years, and went to another state and taught for 1 ½ years. Then I decided to give it up -- teaching that is -- for good. Well, lo and behold, I turned 65 on September 4, 2006, and met 270 new faces on September 5th. Now that must be love!
By the way, I am a physical education teacher and retired guidance counselor.
Do you love teaching? If you had it to do all over again, would you? Could you? Share your thoughts in a
Love Teaching essay and send it to ReflectiveTeacher@EducationWorld.com.
If we publish it, we'll send you an official Education World mug.
