RESPONSIBLE TO: Principal of Millet Learning Center and Millet Center Nursing Supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: To function as an integral member of the Nursing Team and assist the Nursing Supervisor in providing comprehensive school health services.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist in health care assessment and evaluation of students.
a. Follow up on all health referrals.
b. Be responsible for developing and implementing health care plans for students.
c. Provision of direct nursing service in accordance with public health code and the State rules and regulations.
d. Make recommendations to the building supervisors on health needs of individual students.
2. Serve as backup to nursing supervisor when he/she is absent. 3. Provide training and assistance to staff.
a. Train and in-service appropriate personnel at the Millet Center.
b. Coordinate in-services on CPR, First Aid, special procedures and etc., as needed.
4. Administer invasive procedures/treatments including injections, as needed.
5. Serve as a member of the Millet IEP team.
a. Interpret nursing assessments and medical evaluations.
b. Assist parents and staff to understand and attempt to minimize health concerns that may interfere with the learning process of the student.
c. Assist instructional staff with modifications of the educational program to meet the health care needs of the students.
6. Assist the nursing supervisor in the maintenance and record keeping of all health care records.
7. Assist nursing supervisor in maintaining medical equipment.
8. Follow up on referrals for staff injuries/health concerns.
9. Will serve on various school committees as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Current certification to practice as a Registered Nurse in Michigan required.
2. A minimum of three years of nursing experience required.
3. Proficiency in technical nursing and health care procedures, including tracheotomy care, suctioning, catheterization and tube feedings required.
4. Experience with pediatrics, geriatrics and/or persons with physical, mental, or chronic health impairments desired.
5. Effective oral/written communication skills and ability to work cooperatively required.
6. Ability to utilize appropriate manners, conduct, and grooming when working with
others required.
7. Ability to work in a site-based decision-making system that utilizes teams and collaborative decision-making processes.
8. Good health and good attendance history required.
9. Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
10. Willingness to learn and utilize basic keyboarding computer skills.
11. Willingness to receive additional training to improve job skills.

OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY
Responsible for providing technical and analytical assistance in the solution of data processing problems. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
1. Develops and maintains data collection, storage, retrieval, and processing systems.

3. Manages, edits, maintains, retrieves, formats, and combines specific data from multiple evaluation files for use in specialized departmental studies which include countywide tests, Title I, and evaluation studies.
4. Designs, codes, and documents program logic. Defines the programming language methodology and equipment requirements for new and existing applications.
5. Plans, advises, implements and interprets all phases of data processing relative to assigned projects.
6. Designs and implements systems using statistical software.
7. Trains other staff in the use of operating systems, basic programming techniques, statistical software, and microcomputer equipment.
8. Performs periodic maintenance of computer files and libraries.
9. Designs and generates various reports based on available data and departmental requirements.
10. Designs system improvements and identifies data processing applications and evaluates the functions provided by a purchased system against what could be developed in-house.
11. Researches, reviews and is responsible for ensuring compliance with current laws and regulations that impact systems.
12. Develops cost estimates on which economic decisions can be based.
13. Plans for and assigns personnel to tasks within projects.
14. Responsible for continuing self education in new microcomputer software and hardware developments for implementing changes and upgrades as required.
15. Responsible for the development of Internet based applications for the dissemination of school level data.
16. Performs other duties comparable to the above, as the above duties describe only the typical primary features of the job.
17. Performs other duties related to general administrative responsibilities as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
OR
High school diploma and five (5) years of data processing experience, including extensive SAS statistical programming.
