SITE REVIEW

December 2003

Jefferson Lab -- Science Education
Highly interactive science and math site.
Grade Level: 3-5, 6-8

http://education.jlab.org/index.html

CONTENT:
The Jefferson Lab: Science Education provides lesson plans, hands-on activities, worksheets, games, and puzzles to supplement the math and science curriculum.
AESTHETICS:
The site is well designed and user friendly. It requires a Java enabled browser.
ORGANIZATION:
The content is organized into four major sections listed in the left side menu on the main page and a top menu bar on the internal pages. Each of the sections has the content for that area listed as an index.

REVIEW:
This is a great math and science site for teachers and students. It provides teachers reference materials that include a glossary of terms and questions and answers. The hands-on activities can be downloaded in .pdf format and include a teacher overview, standards, lab pages, related activities and sample answer keys. Students can find help with their homework. There are even videotaped science lectures you can borrow! The interactive math and science games and puzzles will keep students engaged for hours. For instance "Who Wants to Win $1,000,000?" Requires students to answer fifteen math and science questions correctly and become a (pretend) millionaire! The math games such as Speed Math, Mystery Math and the Place Value Game are a fun way for students to practice basic math skills and have a great time doing it.
