REVIEW:
Scientists expect to land a man on Mars by the year 2015. Students, teachers, or anyone interested in what a habitat on the Red Planet may involve will find this site attention grabbing. The simulation allows visitors to the site to take a virtual tour of the Mars Base Habitat and the Rover. Stops on the tour include the laboratory, the EVA (extra vehicular activity) preparation area, the airlock, and the medical facility. Users can also get a look at the more personal side of living in the habitat by visiting the bunks, galley, wardroom, and the bathroom. Along the way they can learn about the science and technology of these designs as well as about the hostile environment of Mars. The design drawings are available for downloading. Upcoming features include a virtual ride in the pressurized rover to explore the surface and a tour of the greenhouse.
