Winning Lesson Plan
Create a Living Museum

Subject: Social Studies, Language Arts
Grade: 3-5, 6-8


Sharon Sumner, a teacher at Sullivan Elementary in Sullivan, Missouri, submitted this week's lesson, in which students create a living museum.

Brief Description

Students research famous people from Missouri, or from their own state, and share the information by portraying that person in a "living museum."

Objectives

Students learn about famous people in state history, practice research skills, follow step-by-step directions, write a personal narrative, and role-play.

Encyclopedia, historical reference books, Internet access, the Filamentality site A Scrapbook on Famous Missourians, research checklist (provided online), presentation checklist (provided online), parent letter (provided online)
